The Sidney Artists’ Guild is sponsoring a new program called the Rural Arts Initiative. We strive to bring the Arts in its many forms to individuals in rural communities. Our Guild’s objective is to encourage and foster developing artists living away from the established arts communities and organizations in East Central Illinois. Through workshops, guest lecturers, and hands-on demonstrations, we intend to bring opportunities to learn about new materials and techniques to those living in outlying communities. At the Rural Arts Initiative events, artists young and old can explore their creativity through our various events and shows to be held in Sidney and surrounding convenient locations.

Currently the Artists’ Guild schedules the second meeting of each month as Social Night. These meetings feature activities and lectures presented by members and guests in many different disciplines.

In the future, through grants and paid workshops, we plan to bring artists and artisans as guests for weekend events. These events are open to anyone interested in participating regardless of skill level.
